I have been trying to teach my grandson how to cast. When I took him to the Wyoming Expo in 2018, they taught him how to accurately cast a pole using the "Backyard Bass Starter Set". I was really impressed on how fast he learned. To keep his interest up in fishing, I purchased my own set for him and he practices every time he comes to my house.
Great product I am a chief instructor for the Vermont Fish and Wildlife and use this product to teach kids how to cast. I write the type, size weight and a location on the bottom of the fish so the kids can learn how to use the law book. Lots of fun
I learned about this product at a Leadership meeting for NJ Fish and Wildlife Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs program. This impressed me so much that I needed to buy a set for my group. I am getting to use it this year at the 4H fair in our county. Quality plastic - durable and a great invention.
These should have been included with the dozen fishes at no cost increase to the 12 fish as the 12 fish were pricy enough. The product its self is not a bad item. It would be nice if it had come with a swivel & Snap per piece each that will fit the nose hole of the bait plug.
Looks great - it exactly as i thought it would be, but haven't tried it as of this time.
This is such a great way to have easy fun while developing the kids angling skills.
Back Yard Bass is a fantastic teaching aid. It is a fun, educational tool. We use it to teach Cubs and Scouts to fish. The kids love the game, learning to cast while playing. Parents can help their younger kids which makes it a fun family activity for Cubs. Our Scouts, age 11 and above, pick up the skills immediately. We also use it to train adults where the games can get quite competitive.
Arrived promptly. Husband and I are not very construction savvy but we gradually got things figured out for installation. Getting the slack out of 150 ft. Line presented some challenges. Using a wrench on son's truck seemed to help. But we are thinking to move it higher in trees so butts won't drag for the 180 lb. and higher folk. Not sure if we still have too much slack in line. We have the beginning wire is in a tree on a hill around 6 feet higher than the end tree on level ground. We are now working on a platform because starting point wire is around 9 feet above ground level. Of course the pulley and seat hang down about 2 1/2 feet from wire. Only had it for a few weeks but materials seem to be safe and of good quality. I highly recommend this outside adventure.
Used as a fun game for children at our family oriented Lions Club Fishing Derby.
We ordered two sets so we could give all three of our nieces two fish and two plugs. They have recently really found a love for fishing and want to improve their casts and this is a fun way to do it and they can make it a game or even get competitive. They arrived so fast we were stunned and couldn't be more impressed. Thank you so much!
