Backyard Bass

Rating:
Pros:
Cons:
It was the #1 hit at our annual Fishing Weekend. We used it to teach casting techniques with various types of fishing equipment. It easily adapts to the skill levels of the participants. The instructors were able to challenge themselves as well as their students.

Backyard Bass a birthday hit!

Rating:
Pros:
Cons:
Excellent product and was a success with the children and adults. The fishes were heavy and for young children a heavy rubber material vs. the hard plastic would be a better idea.

Also a little pricy for what they are so don't plan to outfit all my families with them, but this was a special birthday and required something special.

Thank you for the product.

Backyard Bass Educator Set

Rating:
Pros:
  • Unique product
Cons:
  • Top can separate from the bottom.
It is nice to be able to receive a good price on quantity. The small box was a pleasant surprise and all the fish were in the package. Both kids and adults enjoy catching the fish. They hold up pretty well, I have used some for nearly 20 years.

Backyard Bass Kicks Ass!

Pros:
Cons:
Aside from my facetious title, I do mean it. This product is SO great for outdoor environmental education. I first tried it attending a workshop in central NC and now bought my own set for my own programs. I recently used it at a public State Park event this past Saturday and it was the most popular activity we had for over 400 people that showed up! Great Stuff!

Fantastic Product!

Rating:
Pros:
  • Quality
Cons:
  • Versatility
I work with fishing programs and love these guys! They are perfect for teaching the kids about casting distance and accuracy. When reeling in, they are easy to slide, as long as they are on a tarp or slick surface. They don't do very well on rock or grass. Not all styles of casting plugs work in these, I have found the small 3/8 oz casting plugs that are a teardrop and hexagon shape work the best! They are a very durable set.

I have used the educator's set for helping to teach casting to boy scouts and works great. I'm looking forward to using this set for teaching some of the younger cub scouts too.

Great product.

We 1st used this product at Cabel's at their kids day. We were so impressed we ordered the jumbo pak of backyard bass to use all of the kids events we put on, the next one this Sept. It's a great way to teach kids to cast while having some fun doing it.

Ranger Programming

Rating:
Pros:
  • quality
  • durability
  • price
Cons:
We ordered this to use in different ranger led programming. We recently got to use it in the grand opening of a park. It was the hit of all the programs! The kids loved to catch the fish and bring them in. We will be using this for years and years to come.

The only suggestion I would say is to make them more floatable. They do float however if submerged just slightly by the water they tend to begin to sink. Even if no changes are ever made I recommend this product greatly! We got the educators set and I am so glad that we did, best bang for your buck. Thank you!

Successful service project

Rating:
Pros:
Cons:
My high school girls club is an outdoor, adventure, service learning club. They had been taught fishing safety and casting skills using Backyard Bass and shared their knowledge during field day at a local elementary school. Children and adults alike were excited to try their hand at catching the bright colored fish. We needed your fliers as multiple people asked where they could purchase the game. It was fun for all!
